The Zombie Brain (In Honor of Halloween)
Dr. Steven Schlozman, a professor of psychiatry at Harvard, was watching Night of the Living Dead one night, when he asked himself, “What could be happening in the brain of zombies to make them act as they do?” (I’m paraphrasing a little, but that’s the gist.)
He thought more about it, and came up with some solid answers. He even named the condition affecting zombies: Ataxic Neurodegenerative Satiety Deficiency Syndrome, and wrote a (fake) journal article about it. By listening to this 15-minute interview with Dr. Schlozman on NPR, you’ll learn something about the zombie brain, and maybe something about your own.
